Council funds

Clyde Wind Farm Fund – Provides funding for capital projects to communities in the local wind farm area.


Renewable Energy Fund – Supported by wind farm and renewable energy developments to help local communities improve the quality of life and economic prosperity in their local area. Developments will be considered within a 10km radius.

The starting point for any application is to check if you are in an eligible area, register and fill in an enquiry form and return through the online system. The response time is within 14 days and will confirm your eligibility and what is currently available. Register and enquire here.


Renewable Energy Micro Grants Fund – Through funding from South Lanarkshire’s Renewable Energy Fund, Community Councils in South Lanarkshire have been awarded £5,000 to administer a micro grant fund. Each Community Council can award grants of up to £500 to support local constitute and non-constituted groups and where appropriate individuals.

The micro grants are available for activity which is community focused and supports the following objectives:

  • Enhance quality of life for local residents;
  • Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities; and/or
  • Promote community spirit and encourage community activity
